Thank you to our scholarship honorees: Ben Koch, Desiree McKiski, Clair Thomas & Justin Brecht. Thank you to our inspiring Keynote Speaker NV Assemblywoman Pro Tempore Irene Bustamante Adams who is a first-generation college graduate herself and proves what's possible with equitable education, hard work and family and community support and also provided recognition certificates for our students. Thank you to US Senator Dean Heller and US Congressman Ruben Kihuen who provided Senatorial and Congressional recognition certificates for our students.
Thank you to Youthie @WDDA Provideo for creating the parent video at the event, taking pictures throughout the evening and our amazing wrapup video that you should be excited for! And big thank you to Marisela Perez and Alicia Norman at Hacienda Gardens for hosting LIT at your amazing event venue, Danielle Batin and Nicole Tokarski for running C3 Vision for Social Justice Projects this school year with some amazing presentations at the Scholarship Celebration, Cathy Montenegro for our table tops and amazing C2 center pieces, Lindsay Eanes for our marketing materials that led to our first sold out event ever, Yisel Campos and the ECTA marketing program for our LIT buttons that were the evening giveaway, Arthur Ocampo for working/running our raffle, Haddee Martinez and Anthony Coleman both FUTURE Cohort 6 freshman (yes current 8th grade students) for running check-in, Clair Thomas with Barefoot Books and Justin Brecht with Nevada Ready Academy for tabling and sharing important items/info to our community, Walker College Consultants for your C2 college access assistance and Alaina & Olivia Brown for supporting our Executive Director. Students in East Las Vegas have a greater chance of dropping out of high school than becoming college graduates, LIT is proving what's possible with equitable opportunity, community support and diverse leadership. All students commit to being leaders in their own communities or empowering other oppressed communities.
LIT is proud to prove change from the community, for the community is possible and happening every day in East Las Vegas. We look forward to seeing you at Cohort 3/LIT's 4th Annual Senior Scholarship Celebration May 2018!
